About this Japanese jacket:
The Haori jacket is traditionally worn over a kimono, to go out, in mid-season, that is, in spring and autumn. The jacket can be worn open, with the collar folded or not, or closed with a small cord.
Like kimono, the use of these jackets is disappearing in Japan, especially because of the lack of opportunity to wear them. This is very unfortunate because they are real treasures.
With Monoya Tokyo, we wanted to give a second life to these Haori jackets and more broadly to these traditional fabrics, which are a bit neglected by the Japanese but whose refinement and quality of fabric are incredible and undeniable.
Warnings:
Whether it is for our creations or for our vintage collection, we only select fabrics or garments whose general condition is very good; however it can happen that marks of time are present on these fabrics which are several decades old, witnesses of their past histories. Please keep this in mind before ordering.
Care :
Dry clean, recommended by a professional. As the jackets are made of silk, it is important to fold them well to avoid wrinkles. Here is our technical sheet to teach you the traditional way to fold a haori: Haori folding sheet
